The State Farm settlement benefits individuals insured under New Mexico insurance policies issued by State Farm that included uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2021. According to the class action lawsuit, State Farm allegedly failed to explain its offset procedures to New Mexico policyholders, resulting in illegal offsets that reduced their underinsured motorist payments. State Farm is an insurance company that offers coverage for cars, homes, businesses, life and more. State Farm has not admitted any wrongdoing but agreed to a $20.93 million class action settlement to resolve the allegations. Under the terms of the State Farm settlement, class members can receive a cash payment based on the amount they paid for uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. Class members who paid for minimum limits U Coverage can receive a payment of up to 21% of the premiums they paid for this coverage. Class members who paid for non-minimum limits U Coverage can receive a payment of up to 13% of the premiums they paid for this coverage. Payments may be reduced on a pro rata basis if a large number of claims are filed with the settlement. The deadline for exclusion and objection is May 18, 2026. The final approval hearing for the class action settlement is scheduled for June 8, 2026. To receive settlement benefits, class members must submit a valid claim form by July 2, 2026.
