Google Location History Privacy Settlement ($62 Million)
In 2023, Google agreed to pay $391.5 million to settle a multistate attorneys general investigation into its location data practices, plus an additional $62 million consumer class action settlement. The lawsuits alleged that Google continued to track users' location data even after they disabled Location History in their Google account settings — by recording location data through Google Maps, Search, and app activity. Google users in the US who had a Google account and were affected by these location tracking practices during the class period may have been eligible to file claims.
