Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about SettlementRadar, class actions, and filing claims.

General

Yes. Browsing settlements, checking eligibility, reading guides, and filing directly on settlement websites is 100% free. Pro ($6.99/mo) unlocks guided filing assistance, unlimited claim tracking, Smart Match, and a weekly digest.
No. SettlementRadar charges 0% referral fees. Unlike legal referral sites, we never take a cut of your payout. You keep 100% of every dollar you receive.

We track 600+ open settlements at any given time, with new settlements added daily. Our team verifies each settlement against court records and official notices before publishing.

Eligibility

Each settlement has specific eligibility criteria — typically based on product purchase history, employment, geographic location, or data breach exposure. Read the settlement detail page, or use our Am I Eligible? tool for a quick check. The official settlement notice (linked on every detail page) is the authoritative source.
Yes — for No Proof Required settlements. These allow you to certify under penalty of perjury that you made the purchase or were affected, without providing documentation. Many data breach and consumer product settlements are No Proof Required. Check the settlement detail page to confirm.
If you received a notice, you're almost certainly a class member and should file. Find the settlement on SettlementRadar to get the filing link and step-by-step guidance, or file directly at the URL on your notice letter.

Filing & Deadlines

No. Each person may only file one claim per settlement. Filing duplicates is considered fraud and can result in claim denial and legal consequences. However, multiple members of your household can each file their own separate claims if they each independently qualify.
Your claim will not be accepted. Filing deadlines are set by the court and are firm — there are no extensions for individuals. Enable Deadline Alerts to receive reminders 30, 7, and 1 day before deadlines close.
Most No Proof Required claims take 2–5 minutes to file. Proof-required claims take 10–20 minutes once you have your documents ready. Pro's guided assistant reduces this to under 2 minutes for most claims.

Payouts

Payment timelines vary widely. Small, simple settlements typically pay within 6–12 months of the filing deadline. Complex, large settlements can take 2–4 years as appeals are resolved and funds are distributed. SettlementRadar shows estimated distribution dates on settlement pages when available.
It depends on the nature of the settlement. Payments compensating for physical injury or illness are generally not taxable. Payments for economic damages, lost wages, or punitive damages typically are. Consult a tax professional for guidance specific to your situation. SettlementRadar does not provide tax advice.
Settlement payouts are divided among all valid claimants. Payout estimates on SettlementRadar are based on the total settlement fund divided by projected claim volume. When more people than expected file claims, each individual payout is lower. This is normal and determined entirely by the settlement administrator, not SettlementRadar.
